SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY #1

Supporting small is always an excellent idea. And now, probably more than ever, I feel it is important to support small businesses. I have wanted to do a Small Business Saturday post for so long and the current situation has given me that push to finally get it done. That, and lockdown has seen me participating in a LOT of online shopping… There are a couple that are local to me, but the majority of this list is accessible to everyone! I have split this list into two parts because I realised I have bought from a lot of small businesses lately and I don’t want to gloss over my appreciation for them by having too many to mention in one post.

Dorkface
I have followed Jemma on insta for so long and I love her shop. Everything is stunning, vibrant and the attention to detail is always incredible. The very first thing I ordered was a custom print of Ian and myself as an anniversary gift and since then, I’ve gone on to order enamel pins, stickers, book marks, pencils, notebooks… She is launching new products this week and I can’t wait to place an order… I always get such good vibes and feel so positive whenever I’m on the website deciding what to order next.

The Cupcake Stop
This is one local to me, so I do apologise if you’re not because this is a business you are missing out on. The Cupcake Stop have been delivering munchie boxes, cupcake boxes, cookie cakes and more to keep the community going throughout lockdown and it always seems they are a super busy small biz. I am lucky enough to have ordered a munchie box over Easter and it went down a treat with myself and my family. Excitingly, The Cupcake Stop have just extended delivery areas so more people can enjoy the goodies! If you are after anything from The Cupcake Stop, everything goes live on a Sunday at 6pm for the following week but it’s so popular you need to be quick!
You can place an order from The Cupcake Stop here and check out their instagram @the_cupcakestop

Ears Ever After
LoveLoveLove. Did I mention I went to Florida last year? (ha!) Well, I ordered a pair of ears from Ears Ever After for the occasion. My one complaint was that I only ordered one pair. From all the ears I’ve had over the years for Disney, Ears Ever After is by far superior quality. Their instagram is full of Disney magic and positivity. I now have a couple of ears and an abundance of knot headbands (perfect to add that Disney sparkle to the everyday!) As I’m writing this, I actually have another four knot headbands ordered and I can’t wait for them to arrive. I’m pretty sure everything from Ears Ever After is made to order, apart from the occasional Ready To Ship sale. Anytime I’ve had any questions, Natasha is always more than happy to answer them and help out! There is also a customs option of the website, and my favourite is the Fast Pass delivery option to get your delivery even quicker!

MacBeans
This is another local to me… However, I think they do now ship orders outwith Aberdeen. MacBeans has been in Aberdeen for over 30 years and I have walked past it countless times. It wasn’t until my amazing shift partner at my last job, brought in MacBeans coffee to work that I understood the hype. Those beans got me through a hell of a lot of 7.30am starts and double shifts. I was then gifted a bag from my shift partner and the obsession grew. I have placed two orders from MacBeans during lockdown and I am loving having great quality coffee to get me through the never ending days… I drink a lot of coffee but even then approximately a £20 order gets me through a month. Considering the amount I would spend on Costa and Starbucks normally, this is a saving. I’ve tried so much of their coffee now and while some of the beans haven’t been strong enough for my taste, I would recommend any of their products! It’s also great because you can choose the grind you’re after when placing your order. I do miss visiting the MacBeans shop, but this is a great alternative to keep people going. I also love the simplicity of their packaging.

Teeq
This order was the first I have ever placed with Teeq but it will certainly not be the last. I have had my eyes on the embroidered Stitch jumper for so long and thought lockdown was the perfect time to order it for a little pick me up. The quality of this jumper is incredible. I also loved that I received a wee sticker of the same design which now takes pride of place on my kindle. I love so many things from Teeq and will definitely be perusing to see what I want to order next. I also thought the wee sticker on the package was super cute.
Check out Teeq’s stock
here and they’re on instagram @teeqco

I am so impressed by the quality and value for money of all of the above businesses. Please check them out, I know it would mean a lot to everyone involved in these businesses and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Until next time,
Shona x
