This post is well overdue and posts like this will always be a bit controversial. Everyone looks for different things when they’re at a theme park so by no means is this a definite list, this is just my, five favourite rides from Universal Studios Orlando.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
This ride had only been open for a couple of weeks when Ian and I went over and I knew there had been technical issues, and the ride had some pretty random times of operation. That said, I was prepared to do anything to get on this ride. The first day Ian and I went to Universal, we went straight to Islands of Adventure to try and get on this ride. The advertised wait time was 210 minutes, some may think it’s silly to wait this long for a ride but, that’s what we did. The line was pretty entertaining and surprisingly we only waited about 80 minutes before getting on the ride.

I hadn’t read, or watched anything about the ride because I wanted to be surprised and I was so blown away. It was incredible, the attention to detail was stunning and it was a real thrill. Had the queue been shorter, I would have ridden it again, and again, and again…

Jurassic Park River Adventure
This ride has started somewhat of a Jurassic Park/dinosaur obsession. It has been around for years but I still think it’s one of the best at Universal. A nice, relaxing boat journey to view dinosaurs that goes wrong? Ending with an 85 foot drop? What else could you want? The pictures from this ride were priceless and this is the ride we went on the most, so there are a lot of hilarious photo moments.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster
I was super excited to go on this ride again. It was one of my favourites from being in Orlando previously, and I couldn’t wait to see how Ian coped. He claims to have enjoyed it but didn’t want to go on it again. Luckily, the coaster has a single rider line so I was able to queue on my own fairly quickly.

The Simpsons Ride
I had no idea what to expect with this ride at all. I’d never been on it before or heard much about it. It was great fun though, it’s a simulator ride but it really does feel like you’re on a pretty big coaster. The theming and use of characters was fab and I feel like it’s a ride everyone can enjoy!

Hogwarts Express
I reckon there will be a few people who disagree with this being on my list, but hear me out. Okay, I know it’s not a big thrill seeker type ride but I think it’s so well put together. It really does feel like you’re on the Hogwarts Express (a dream of mine since I was about 6 years old and went to see the first film). It also makes getting from Universal Studios to Islands of Adventure super simple, and a lot more fun than walking… Make sure you ride this both ways because you get a different experience!

I asked Ian for his top 5 and they’re pretty similar… I guess he has good taste, ha! His list is as follows: Hagrid, The Simpsons Ride, The Hulk (but once was enough), Jurassic Park. And although it’s not a ‘ride’, he really loved being in Diagon Alley. Ian’s last words of wisdom… Do not go on Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket, advice I second.

Let me know what your favourite ride at Universal is, I’d love to hear other opinions!

Until next time,

Shona x
