Books & Reading

At the start of July I posted my Summer TBR list stating I had eight weeks to complete it. I’m back to uni tomorrow (did I mention? lol) So, did I manage to finish my TBR pile? No. But it’s not that I just haven’t read over Summer. In fact, I’ve completed 13 books in the past eight weeks and I’m currently more than half way through another. That’s two and a half books more than was on my TBR.

So… Which books on my TBR did I actually read?

The Tattooist of Auschwitz – Heather Morris
Where The Light Gets In – Lucy Dillon
Th1rt3en – Steve Cavanagh
The Craftsman – Sharon Bolton
My Not So Perfect Life – Sophie Kinsella
Keep You Safe – Melissa Hill
The Cherry Tree Café – Heidi Swan
The Couple Next Door – Shari Lapena
The Thinnest Air – Minka Kent

I didn’t manage to read The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith or Some Kind of Wonderful by Giovanna Fletcher. The Cuckoo’s Calling is a book I do own and started to read but for some reason, I couldn’t get into it. I’ve spoken to a fair few people who speak so highly of the title that I’m not giving up just yet. But, I did put it down for now and will go back to it at some other point and hope that I’m more in the mood for it.

Some Kind of Wonderful I struggled to get my hands on. From what I can tell, it’s being released on paperback fairly soon. None of the bookshops or supermarkets I checked had it on hardback and I’m guessing this is why. The book is £5.99 on kindle and I’m sorry (I know people have to make money but…) I just refuse to pay that much for an eBook. I’d rather have a physical copy for that price that I can lend people afterwards.

In addition to the above books I also read Girl Up by Laura Bates; The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold; The Dead Ex by Jane Corry; and Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone.

The only book I read this Summer that I wouldn’t recommend is The Couple Next Door… I’ve read so many rave reviews but I just found it terrible. Considering the subject matter, I just found there was no substance to it and I was really bored. It was almost too far fetched but still boring, who knew that was even possible?

Let me know if you’ve read any of the above or want more information on anything I’ve read recently! I’m also always looking for more book recommendations so please hit me up if you have any!
