Luckily for me, 2017 has been (mostly) kind. Was it as good as last year? No. 2016 brought a number of holidays and my 21st birthday which I can’t see being topped for a long time but I do have a fair few highlights from 2017 that I want to share with you all before the year is over!
Passing 3rd Year of Uni with Distinction!
I found this out on holiday and literally CRIED with happiness. Stress levels were high during third year, although they are higher now, and I was unbelievably happy that all my hard work paid off. I had nightmares of failing coursework and exams so this was a huge relief. Celebrating in the sun with unlimited cocktails and prosecco made for an excellent day.
Celebrating FOUR Years with Ian
It really has been an amazing four years with my boyfriend. I am so lucky to have such a thoughtful person there for me through absolutely everything. To support me through sad and stressful times, be proud of me through my achievements and of course, most importantly, to take me home from drunken nights out and make sure I get to bed okay. I couldn’t ask for anyone better to share my life with and I look forward to seeing what 2018 brings for us.
Visiting The Making of Harry Potter – WB Studios
You can read my post all about this experience here. It’s somewhere I had wanted to go for so long and I was so excited to finally visit in January with my fave sista from anotha mista’. It was such a good day out and I look forward to returning, hopefully soon! It fulfilled every expectation and even more. The perfect day out for a Harry Potter fanatic.
The BEST Hen Weekend and Wedding
I had a fabulous time celebrating the wedding of two very special people this October, this was the first wedding Ian and I had attended together and the first one I had attended that wasn’t a family member. The whole day was made so magical and if I ever have a wedding half as beautiful, I’ll be one lucky lady! Of course, with the wedding came the (very messy) hen weekend! Cocktail making, quad biking, prosecco drinking and game playing. I don’t think I have laughed so much ever, it was such a great weekend full of unreal people, inside and out and I am so thankful I got to be a part of it.
A Peaceful Week in Ibiza with my Family
I love a holiday, especially one in the sun. It was so good after a stressful year of uni to head to the sun and have no worries for a week. All inclusive cocktails were a definite benefit and it was great to just soak up the sun and devour book after book to recharge my batteries.
Meeting Some Incredible People Through My New Job
This year saw me take on a crazy adventure regarding work and it has been way more stressful than I ever imagined but the training I received was second-to-none. Through this training, and the job in general, I have met some outstanding people. YOU KNOW WHO ARE. It’s unfortunate that we’re from all over the UK but social media keeps us in touch and I feel so blessed to have met the people I have.
(I have no photos… Think that shows how fun the training weekends were!)
Starting My Blog!
Back in February, I created my little place online. I had no idea how much work, but how rewarding blogging would be. In the small number of months I’ve been running What Shona Says, I have taken time out to focus on uni and other things in life but the blogging community are always there to welcome me back. I have learned so much through blogging and I look forward to continuing to grow as a blogger and getting in touch with even more people who share my passion.
Of course, I have to give a special shout out to all the people who have made my 2017 a great year. I’m not going to list names because I will definitely forget a few and then feel horrendously guilty but you do know who you are. I have such amazing friends and family who are always there supporting me and, I hope, I do the same for them. Whether it’s grabbing a coffee, going for a cocktail or just tagging each other in memes on facebook, my friends and family are the BEST. I cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store!
What are your 2017 highlights? I would love to know!
