Afternoon Tea is easily my most favourite way to spend time… Unfortunately, not Slimming World friendly they are kept to a minimum. My fabulous mumma treated me to afternoon tea at The Marcliffe for finishing my uni exams and it was lovely. Is it number one? No; but it’s fairly high up my list.
I love the surroundings of The Marcliffe, it has a long drive up and you feel a million miles away. We got a table next to a big bay window that had grand armchairs and it was incredible. We opted for a glass of fizz because well… Why not? I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I love afternoon tea when you get to choose your own sandwich filling instead of getting a selection you may not like. Mum and I picked tuna and sweetcorn, and roast chicken and bacon, both on wholegrain bread and they were so tasty. We were also given one plain scone and one fruit so shared and had half of each. The clotted cream and jam were amazing. Seriously one of the best I’ve ever experienced.
We had a lovely selection of treats too. There was: a bakewell tart; chocolate cookie; strawberry tart; and a blueberry and lemon posset. They were all fab but the blueberry and lemon posset was to. DIE. FOR.
I also have to mention the bathrooms because they were very fancy so I’ve attached some photos just because.
Overall, it was a great afternoon out but I do have to say… As much as I enjoyed everything, I do think it was overpriced. We were £34 per person, yes, we had fizz but I still think this was quite pricey. If it was based on the food and experience, I would recommend this but I’ve been to other places which have been just as good, if not better and not as expensive!
